She has worked with Ocean Productions. Currently lives within Truro, Nova Scotia. Also was a politician in the provincial Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 2009 to 2019 as a New Democrat member and then in the federal House of Commons as a Liberal from 2019 to 2021 when she lost reelection.
